Colorwork

DATE TO BE DETERMINED

Learn the basics of stranded color work, color dominance and experiment knitting with both hands all while making a hat. Pattern included. 

Class requirements:  Two colors either DK or worsted weight wool, 50g of each of high contrast colors  (US 4 and US 5 for DK  and  US 6 or US 7 for worsted weight) 16" or 32” circular needles for Magic loop (Magic loop knitters must already be proficient, as this skill will not be covered in class)

Level: Confident beginner Maximum 10 students. Cost of Class:  $40

Brioche in the Round

Whitney Harmon will teach this class in july

Join us in a 3 day workshop to perfect your brioche knitting. We will be casting on and learning the BrK and BrP stitches as well as discussing how to shape Brioche rib while making a hat. Focus will be on mastering the Brioche stitches as well as identifying and repairing mistakes while maintaining the structure of the super squishy and warm Brioche rib. 

Class Requirements: US 5 24” needle and US 5 DPN, Two skeins contrasting worsted weight yarn and a locking stitch marker.

Level: Adventurous intermediate Maximum 10 students Cost of Class: $55.

Introduction to Lace Charts

Learn to read lace charts while familiarizing yourself with lace knitting techniques. We will be going over all sorts of tips and tricks to make keeping track of lace so much easier as well as constructing a beautiful Fletcha Cowl. 
Supplies for class: US 8 24” needle and 400 yards of worsted weight yarn. 10 stitch markers including one that is unique.

Mosaic Knitting

Mosaic knitting is a fun way to work with two colors while only using one color per row. The simple slip stitch pattern creates a intricate looking fabric while keeping knitting relaxing and enjoyable. Students should be familiar with using a chart and increasing in their work. We will be using the Boardwalk pattern from Queensland collection featuring Rainbow Beach yarns.
Supplies for class: US 6 32” needle, 2 skeins contrasting Fingering or sport weight yarn and a locking stitch marker. ( I recommend that one skein be a solid color and the other be a color changing yarn for interest, but colors should be high contrast)

Learn to Knit or Crochet

Classes will be scheduled on a regular basis depending on interest

Leta will teach a beginning class for those of you who are interested in learning how to knit or crochet...or if you haven't knit or picked up a crochet hook in a long time and need help getting started, this is the place for you.

Knitting Help and Support

Although this technically is not a class, there is always help and support during our social knitting groups. If you're having trouble getting started, need help learning a new stitch, or trying to figure out how to fix a mistake, we will gladly help with no fee!   

 

    

Double Knitting

Grab two skeins of contrasting yarn and join in the fun of making a cowl with two right sides!!! Double knitting creates a double thick fabric with two stockinette knit faces that are the mirror image of each others color. This is a step beyond colorwork, so students should be familiar with working with two yarns at one.  We will be working on a cowl to master the technique. 

Supplies for class: US 5 24” needle, 2 skeins contrasting DK weight yarn and a stitch marker. We will be using the Dots Cowl pattern.

Fix your Knits on the Needles

DATE TO BE DETERMINED

Be empowered to take charge of your knitting at home. Learn to fixed dropped stitches, lace pattern mistakes and pick up a few new techniques.

Class Requirements: Two 4 x 4 worsted weight swatches one garter stitch and one stockinette STILL ON THE NEEDLES WITH YARN ATTACHED. 

Level: Confident beginner   Maximum 10 students Cost of Class:  $25

Knitting Top Down Sock Using Magic Loop Method

Classes will be scheduled on a regular basis depending on interest

Learn Magic Loop method and the heel flap technique in two class sessions.  The basics of sock construction and how to make them fit will be covered in the first class.  The second class will be held one or two weeks later, to be determined by class members.  Class members must be proficient in knit and purl stitches.  Cost of Class:  $45

Two-at-a-Time Sock…Toe Up

Corky Crimmins will teach this class in June

Knitting socks from the toe up lets you try them on as you go, to make sure they fit all along the way. You will learn how to knit two socks at the same time on a circular needle so you have a pair finished at the same time.  Cost of the three-day class (spread out over three weeks) is $55 and you will get 15% discount on yarn you buy for your project. Limited spaces available to be able to provide individual instruction.

 

Beaded Sock Class

Leta will teach this class in June

Learn how to knit socks embellished with beads as you knit (from the top down). Cost of the three-day class (spread out over three weeks) is $55 and you will get 15% discount on yarn you buy for your project. Limited spaces available to be able to provide individual instruction. Come in to the shop to chose your yarn and we’ll give you information about beads and where to obtain them.
